Armstrong Set To Return To Mound Saturday
PaddleHeads Reliever Returns From Inactive List
The Missoula PaddleHeads are getting locked in for a double header Saturday opposite the Rocky Mountain Vibes at Allegiance Field. This will mark the first time Missoula will host a twin bill in the Garden City this season. The PaddleHeads will look to keep things rolling in the right direction in this series having found the win column in the first 3 games of this series. Starting pitching has been a highlight in this series to this point specifically in the last 2 games. Reinforcements will also be coming for the Missoula bullpen Saturday with the return of a left handed reliever.
The PaddleHeads roster has been on the mend on this current homestand with the activation of 3 position players off the inactive list. Now a PaddleHeads pitcher is ready to get back to game action with the return of Andrew Armstrong Saturday. The Florida State product has been on shelf dating back to July 23 but is now set to return to game action this weekend. The corresponding transaction involved pitcher Devyn Lopez who was placed on waivers. Kamron Willman also remains on the inactive list and is currently the only player for the PaddleHeads on the 10-day IL.
Armstrong has been one of Michael Schlact's most commonly used arms in the pen when healthy this season. The Georgia native appeared in 26 games (2 starts) prior to the injury. In 32 ⅔ innings of work Armstrong struck out 41 batters while walking only 15. The 2nd year professional also holds a 4.15 ERA in that span. Armstrong has been especially tough opposite left handed batters with opposing left-handed hitters holding a .206 average against him in 91 at-bats.
The PaddleHeads (48-21) will look to continue its winning ways opposite the Vibes (33-35) Saturday evening. First pitch of a double header is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Both contests will be 7 inning affairs. The PaddleHeads will also hold a Home Run Derby following game 1. Game 2 will begin approximately 30 minutes following the derby. Head out to Allegiance Field to experience the fun in person or listen in live on ESPN Missoula 102.9 F.M.
